Following President Donald Trump’s Monday tweet criticizing Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the congressman responded by calling Trump’s comments and actions “beneath the dignity” of his office.
“With respect Mr. President, the problem is how often you watch TV, and that your comments and actions are beneath the dignity of the office,” Schiff tweeted.

Earlier Monday, Trump posted a tweet in which he referred to Schiff, the senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, as “sleazy” and “biased.”
“Sleazy Adam Schiff, the totally biased Congressman looking into ‘Russia,’ spends all of his time on television pushing the Dem loss excuse!” Trump tweeted.

During a Sunday interview, Schiff contended that Trump is worried that the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election could include the president’s finances.
Trump has previously criticized the Russia investigation, which also encompasses a probe into possible collusion between Trump’s campaign and Moscow. The president has labeled the investigation a “witch hunt” and said that Democrats use Russian meddling as an excuse for losing the election.
Trump also posted a barrage of other tweets Monday morning, one in particular aimed at Sen. Chuck Schumer and “draining the sewer.”
